The Rise and Fall is an installation that faithfully and meticulously re-creates within the white walls of gallery the kitchen and corridor belonging to Jimmy Watts,
the oldest resident of the Market Estate in holloway that was demolished in March 2010.
In the early 90’s Jimmy amateur film makers had pointed the camera straight out of his kitchen window thus capturing the estates young residents lulling about in the plaza below.
Having reproduced the architectural space of Jimmy’s flat, the social space of the estate was recreated by incorporating Jimmy’s video captured through this kitchen window.
